Coffee Gives Us An Emotional Boost As Well As An Energy Boost. Why do we crave that first cup of coffee in the morning so much? Why do we gather together in random coffee shops all over the world to worship this little cup of elixir? The caffeine? The Taste? The social aspect? The Antioxidants? Not so much. ![]() Come to find out, the real reason we drink so much coffee is due to the emotional gratification we get from it. In a study done last year, it was determined " The reason why this product is so appreciated can be found in the positive emotions it arouses. In fact, the results of the study carried out reveal that coffee arouses a positive emotional charge among the people who drink it, and its consumption is linked to the emotions of pleasure, activity, energy and happiness, in that order." Humans, both men and women alike, are deep down ruled by our emotions first, followed by logic. We do things and make decisions based primarily on how it will make us feel. Especially when it comes to making ourselves feel good on subconscious level. This is evidenced by what we put in our mouths. Hence the widening of the collective American waistline. When it comes to coffee however, it's primary function is a feel good drug. One I feel no guilt about being addicted to. I gladly raise my hand an admit with a smile, "my name is Steven and I'm a coffee addict" So feel good about your feel good drink! It keeps us emotionally level, which is safer for all those people we come in contact with that piss us off.
"When it comes to linking coffee consumption with the emotions, we have not found any link with negative sensations,” The study goes on to state, "The coffee drunk in the morning is linked to activity, energy and kindness. It is also linked to pleasure and, in fact, the start of the day is the moment preferred by consumers to enjoy a cup of this beverage. Coffee drunk socially is linked, depending on the atmosphere and the company in which it is drunk, with activity, affection, yearning, friendship, satisfaction, good nature and pleasure. Coffee taken leisurely leads to sensations of calm, sweetness, peace, happiness and tranquility."
So here's to being happy! Keep enjoying your morning joe and maybe even enjoy your family and friends a little more too especially when sharing some time over a cup of coffee.
